Health inspection issues for another Genki Sushi restaurant. This one is at Ala Moana Center.
On Thursday afternoon, the state health department shut it down and gave it a red placard for a backed up drain. The store fixed it and was allowed to re-open two hours later. It only got a “yellow” card though, because inspectors say Genki is not properly storing food at cold-enough temperatures. Inspectors return Monday to check on that. Genki Sushi USA Incorporated said it “is continuing to work closely with the Hawaii State Department of Health to take the necessary actions to ensure our restaurant complies with all food safety requirements.”
This comes on the heels of a health inspection issue on May 29, when a Genki Sushi restaurant in Kailua-Kona was forced to close temporarily after failing a health inspection the day before. Inspectors discovered the restaurant was infested with roaches.
No word yet on when that restaurant will reopen. Genki Sushi USA had said, “We regret the continued delay, but we want to make sure our customers are assured of a clean restaurant when we reopen.”
