App-based food delivery service Bite Squad is seeking to hire 200 new drivers in the Honolulu area, the company announced Tuesday.

“These positions will not only help satisfy the continued demand for delivery from restaurant and grocery partners, they will offer employment during a time when many companies are cutting back their workforce,” said Carl Grimstad, CEO, in a statement.

All drivers would be independent contractors, and schedules are flexible. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance and a smart phone. The company will provide each driver with masks, gloves and sanitation spray.

Bite Squad was founded in Minneapolis in 2012 and now partners with thousands of restaurants in more than 600 cities. The service launched locally in 2016 in Honolulu and has been steadily expanding throughout the Islands. It has since grown service throughout Oahu, and in 2019, it launched on Maui and Hawaii Island.

Last month, Bite Squad launched service in Waianae and has continued to widen its delivery area within Honolulu.
